I finally remembered this song at the karaoke the other day. I didn’t know the title until WK picked this. Now, I did a rough translation for this though it seems a little off; probably due to the abstractness of the Mandarin lyrics.
A thought crossed my mind – whether the generations after myself would know who A-mei is. Fortunately, my generation is a blend between the 90′s and the new millennium. I guess we could be the last of the ‘youngsters’ who can appreciate this powerhouse.
I love A-mei.

The broken-hearted rose is still blooming in its midnight -
Unable to find its petals that have hurriedly fallen
Arrived at the scene – but it was too late
Awaits for any response or reply but to no avail
The weak kite floating in the winter -
Unable to return to the one who once held its strings
How is it in any way suitable when there is no clear, blue sky – so why fly?
The black dimple has fallen, the snow-white tears has fallen
Expressions that were supposed to have shown have momentarily fallen
There is no colour in the pupil of the eye
The long river has froze
Memories is the most frightening, ultimate enemy
The story’s plot has fallen – the dialogues of the protagonist has fallen
The sparring scene that was supposed to be in the drama has fallen
Feeling against the heart… – there is no happiness.
The wingless pigeon; the witherless excuses have all… fallen
The songs that we used to sing, the laughter we used to share -
Are all tucking at the strings of this heart
I am pining and longing but unable to admit so
And I cleaned the trails left by my tears
When the winter has passed, it will still be very cold.
